The Oscar buzz surrounding the Civil War epic will only be boosted by the eight Golden Globe nominations the film recently won, including best drama, best drama actress (Nicole Kidman), best drama actor (Jude Law), Best supporting actress (Renee Zellweger) and best director (Antony Minghella). \u003cbr/\u003eThe project has been more than four years in the making.  Although set in the deep south of America, 'Cold Mountain' was shot almost entirely in Romania. \u003cbr/\u003eThe producers and director decided it was the cheapest option for the ten month shoot, to create a step back in time for the cast, an experience Jude Law relished.\u003cbr/\u003eThe cast includes a series of strong supporting roles from talented performers such as Philip Seymour Hoffman (25th Hour') and Giovanni Ribisi ('Boiler Room').\u003cbr/\u003eLikewise, Star War's star Natalie Portman plays a young widow trying to protect her baby from the brutalities of war.\u003cbr/\u003eLike her fellow cast mates she said it profoundly affected her view of war and love.\u003cbr/\u003e'Cold Mountain' is released in the USA on December 25 and the UK on December 26.\u003cbr/\u003e'Cold
