taught Hebrew  at school.\u003cbr/\u003eWhat was taboo for Uzbekistan's Jewish community just six years ago is now allowed.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring the communist regime, Jews were forced to practice their faith behind closed  doors.\u003cbr/\u003eMany left the country, emigrating to Europe, America, and above all to Israel.\u003cbr/\u003eOut of an original population of 200-thousand, just 50-thousand remain, most of them  living in three major cities -- Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara.\u003cbr/\u003eBut for those that remained behind, life has changed dramatically.\u003cbr/\u003eJews now openly observe their religious ceremonies and many of their children are  taught Hebrew at school.\u003cbr/\u003eLast week, a delegation of American Jewish leaders made a four-day fact-finding provide economic and political support  in exchange for guarantees for Uzbekistan's Jews.\u003cbr/\u003eThey may well have been an all but invisible presence in their country for the past 50
