We have been to the Musee Picasso in Paris and  his studio in Antibes and one more step in our quest.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Steven Walker, visitor\u003cbr/\u003eThe exhibition covers many famous paintings, some not so famous and some never  seen before in the States\u003cbr/\u003e\"They can see a 152 paintings, drawings and a couple of sculptures that he created  between the ages of 11 and 25.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Deborah Ziska, Gallery's Information Officer\u003cbr/\u003eAnd although these ''early years''  cover only a short period in Picasso's career, art  collectors all over the world have always paid higher prices for these paintings than for  any other 20th century art.\u003cbr/\u003eWhat strikes the visitor is that at the beginning of the exhibition Picasso is only 11  years old and by the end of the show, the artist is 25. \u003cbr/\u003eIn only 14 years the master distinguished himself in his field by a remarkable range of  styles and techniques.\u003cbr/\u003eObjects shown from the ''Rose period'' distinguished by a palette of roseate shades  include the paintings ''Family of Saltinbamques' (1905) and ''Harlequins Family with an  Ape'' (1905).\u003cbr/\u003e\"The Rose Period where we are standing in front of Family of Saltinbamques which is a  great masterpiece, a painting that we also cleaned so that now we can see it closer to  Picasso's originally intent, the brushwork and the colors are more vivid than they have  been since he painted it.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Deborah Ziska, Gallery's Information Officer\u003cbr/\u003eThe exhibit ends on this phase of his work, where his masterpieces like the ''Two  Nudes'' foreshadowed a new epoch in the artist's career.\u003cbr/\u003e\"In the very end of the show you move on to a period where he is now discovering a new  way to paint the human body and it's quite exciting because this is just the step before  he explodes on the world art scene with cubism.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Deborah Ziska, Gallery's Information Officer\u003cbr/\u003eIn 1906, inspired by a trip to the Spanish Pyrenees, Picasso began to paint his nude  pictures like the ''Nude on Red Background'' testing his newly found techniques.\u003cbr/\u003eHundreds of visitors attended the opening and the gallery expects thousands to pass  through the turn-stiles until July 27 when the exhibit travels on to Boston.\u003cbr/\u003eWashington DC, USA, March 30th, 1997\u003cbr/\u003e1.
