Less than 300 US dollars, in fact. \u003cbr/\u003eFrancis Morgan, the founder of Auction House Dubai, says he was inspired by the success of online bidding sites to set up a non-virtual auction house for cheaper second hand goods. \u003cbr/\u003e\"With the success of other online portals, we decided that a bricks and mortar auction house, so people can buy items at their own price, with what they want at their time, will be a lot easier for the consumer. Dubai is also, as well I believe, the third most transient country in the world, so it is one of those things which I think go hand in hand and it works quite well,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eFour auctions are held every weekend: two for under 1,000 dirhams and two for over 1,000 dirhams.\u003cbr/\u003eAnything can be sold at the auction, but most things up for grabs are furniture, antiques and electronics. \u003cbr/\u003eMorgan started the auction house in August and, at just one month old, it is already getting some regular customers. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I was waiting for something like to be opened for a long time in Dubai. I thought it was a great concept. I have a real estate company and I furnish a lot of apartments and I am always looking for decent quality stuff to put inside the apartments. This saves me a lot of time and energy running around Dubizzle. I can come here on the weekend, fill a truck, furnish apartments,\" says regular bidder Michael Crater.\u003cbr/\u003eDubizzle is an online portal where people can buy and sell goods. \u003cbr/\u003eMorgan says the auction house expects an average of about 50 bidders to turn up for each auction and there are about 100 items up for sale each time. \u003cbr/\u003eCrater says there is always competition among the bidders.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Sometimes you are bidding against a friend of yours, but I always say there are no friends at an auction. Some people get upset but most people do it all in (their) stride. Where I am from, we lived off auctions. We love them. We do a lot of our interaction, business and everything. It is almost like a golf course, where people come together and they are doing different things and you start being friendly, getting to know people. I have made quite a few friends here.
