poor developing countries.\"\u003cbr/\u003eWhaling supporters suffered a set back on Monday when the I-W-C rejected Iceland's request to have its voting rights restored.\u003cbr/\u003eIts return to full membership could have given the pro-whaling nations the majority needed to end the moratorium.\u003cbr/\u003eBan or not, whale meat remains on the menu in Japan.\u003cbr/\u003eHundreds of whales are killed here every year in the guise of research.\u003cbr/\u003eThe meat is sold and most of it ends up in restaurants.\u003cbr/\u003eAt a market not far from where the Commission members have gathered, whale meat is offered sale.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English) Andres Rozental, Mexico Commissioner: \u003cbr/\u003e\"Japan must understand that world public opinion is against this controversial continued defiance of the IWC and that it must desist from undermining the moratorium that it itself accepted in 1986.\"\u003cbr/\u003eJapan says that growing whale herds are now destroying fish stocks -
