The drawings surfaced briefly in New York, where US Customs agents foiled an attempt to extort six (m) million dollars for their return to the Bremen museum. The drawings were seized, and a Japanese businessman and the former Azerbaijan prosecutor were arrested, one in a room of the Grand Hyatt Hotel on 42nd street, and the other near Washington Square Park, where she had led customs agents on a high-speed chase.\"\u003cbr/\u003e6. two rare drawings by Albrecht Durer - one of which is valued at ten (m) million US dollars - had hung in the museum for a century before their disappearance at the end of World War Two.\u003cbr/\u003eThe three works were among a dozen drawings, worth up to 15 (m) million US dollars in total, that were returned in a ceremony at the US Customhouse at New York's World Trade Center.\u003cbr/\u003eThe twelve drawings, dating from the early fifteenth to nineteenth centuries, were among 1,520 works of art that the Bremen Museum moved in 1943 to a castle north of Berlin for safekeeping.\u003cbr/\u003eTowards the end of World War Two, Soviet troops occupied the castle.\u003cbr/\u003eThe drawings then found their way to the Soviet Union, failing to resurface until 1993, when they appeared in the former Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan.\u003cbr/\u003eThe drawings were stolen from the Baku Museum in Azerbaijan in 1993 before they could be returned to Germany.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother 180 works belonging to the Baku Museum were also stolen.\u003cbr/\u003eIn 1997 the Bremen drawings were spotted in New York and immediately seized\u003cbr/\u003eA total of 192 stolen Bremen and Baku pieces of art were recovered from the interior of a cupboard and under the bed by US customs, in a Brooklyn apartment.\u003cbr/\u003eThe drawings and prints belonging to the Baku Museum were returned last month.\u003cbr/\u003eThe most valuable piece of art returned to the Bremen Museum on Thursday was an ink drawing entitled \"Women's Bathhouse\" by Albrecht Durer, dated at around 1494.\u003cbr/\u003eExperts value this drawing alone at approximately 10 (m) million dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eThe remaining Bremen drawings, including Rembrandt's \"Woman Standing with
