Various of film poster on street \u003cbr/\u003eThe controversy surrounding the claims contained in Dan Brown's best-selling novel continue to rage ahead of the release of the movie with the same name.\u003cbr/\u003eAt least one expert, who's researched the idea that Jesus Christ has direct descendents, is standing by claims that the so-called Rose Line exists.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film, the Da Vinci Code, goes on general worldwide release later today (May 19).\u003cbr/\u003eThe much awaited \"Da Vinci Code\" movie is about to hit cinemas all over the world. \u003cbr/\u003eAlthough described as cold and boring by critics at the Cannes Film festival, many spectators around the world are waiting to see the film based on the controversial book by Dan Brown.\u003cbr/\u003eAround 45 million copies of the \"Da Vinci Code\" have been  sold across the world . \u003cbr/\u003eThe controversy surrounding the novel comes from theories distancing Jesus Christ from the divinity given to him by the Church. \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to the novel, Christ had a relationship with Mary Magdalene, from which Jesus had children, and subsequently descendents, throughout the centuries.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Da Vinci Code theories have awoken a great interest in the mysteries and secrets of the church, which has provoked a torrent of new publications and theories.\u003cbr/\u003eFor others it is nothing more than pulp fiction. It is clear that the book has believers and non-believers.\u003cbr/\u003eSince the novel was published in 2003, many have tried to defend its theory of the existence of a genealogical line of Christ. It's an idea that has persisted for centuries, but with the publication of the Brown's book has taken a hold.\u003cbr/\u003eThis is the case of Michael Misfud, an investigative journalist from the UK, who has spent the last 20 years studying the mysteries surrounding the possible existence of descendents of Christ, the so called Rose line. \u003cbr/\u003eMr Misfud says it is difficult to condense down twenty years of the findings of his investigations.\u003cbr/\u003eNone the less, he claims to have found coincidences in documents relating to the period of Alfonso the 10th, and kept in the Spanish National Archive, Madrid, and the archives of the Duchess of Medina Sidonia, Andalucia. These coincidences have led him to re-affirm the belief that the Rose line (the genealogical line of Christ) exists.\u003cbr/\u003eMisfud defends the impossibility of finding conclusive proof that supports his type of theories because investigations are complicated by the destruction of documents either by war, fire, royal dynasties or monks.\u003cbr/\u003eOn the other side of the \"Da Vinci Code\" controversy are the academics who insist that Dan Brown's novel is a gripping yarn with no historical credibility. \u003cbr/\u003eManuel Alejandro Rodriguez is Vice-Rector and Professor of Medieval History at the Catholic University San Pablo, CEU, Madrid. \u003cbr/\u003eHe with other experts have produced a documentary titled the \"Dark side of the Da Vinci Code\". Its objective is to clear up the historical inaccuracies they claim the book contains.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Rodriguez noone can prove what does not exist, and that there is no historical proof of the existence of a genealogical line leading back to Jesus Christ.\u003cbr/\u003eFor Rodriguez, who is expert in the reign of King Alfonso the 10th, there is no evidence that the monarch did not believe in the established beliefs of Christianity, and that the interpretation of symbols without hard evidence is pure speculation.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's likely the controversy caused by the Da Vinci
