The course is teaching children as young as 7 years old to make their own online...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLearning the language of computers is usually reserved for adults, but a school in Jakarta is giving children the chance to learn this unique set of skills. \u003cbr/\u003eThe course is teaching children as young as 7 years old to make their own online games and improve their computer literacy.\u003cbr/\u003eThese kids are spending their holidays on the computer, but they are not just playing video games... they are making them.  \u003cbr/\u003eThey are attending the Indonesia Coding School, called 'Coding Indonesia', which runs three weekly classes for around eighty children aged between 7-15 years old.\u003cbr/\u003eWahyudi, one of the founder and tutors, says \"the basic of coding is actually maths, something that people have learnt in school. Children were introduced to maths and logic since they were in first level of elementary school. So I think, since they have exposed to technology in such early age, why not teach them to create the technology\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe course is divided into three level programs; Basic, Web Literacy and Junior Coding.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the basic programme, children are taught the foundation of programming such as algorithm and logic. \u003cbr/\u003eChildren are expected to be able to create their own games and learn how to think like a programmer.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the web literacy programme, children are taught how to create a website. They are also taught some foundations of web design and user experience design.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the junior coding program, children are taught the real programming language that is being used by the industry. \u003cbr/\u003eParticipants are expected to be able to create advanced games application and programmes. \u003cbr/\u003e\" In my opinion, programming skill could lead to entrepreneurship. When we have the skill in coding, we may not even have to look for job after finishing school. We can work from home, create something and launch it. The market is big; i-phone, google play and other gadgets. When we release our creation, million of people can instantly access it\" says  Wahyudi.\u003cbr/\u003eIn one of the lesson, students were taught to create a flight simulator games. The class introduced key components of games development including plane speed, direction, and creating various levels of difficulty.\u003cbr/\u003eThe children were responding with enthusiasm and creativity, even though much of the instruction is in English.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of participants was ten year old Raksha Putera. He has been participating in coding class for four months and is now able to create online adventure games of his own. \u003cbr/\u003ePutera says he enjoys taking the course as it is pushing him to be creative as well as adding his competency in Maths and English.\u003cbr/\u003e\" I learned to create different kind of games in this class. I also continue to create different variety of the games at home\" says Putera.\u003cbr/\u003eAs the most popular channel, Indonesia online game is growing each year. \u003cbr/\u003eA study conducted by BaoBab Games, one of Indonesia's leading web and mobile content provider showed that there are currently 7 million online game users and it is predicted to grow about 33 percent per year for the next three years.\u003cbr/\u003eThis offers a number of opportunities for content and service providers thus will provide a lot of job opportunities for programmers.\u003cbr/\u003eIndonesia's current school curriculum does not offer computer literacy and information as a subject in itself, therefore education in Indonesia is considered less advance than it is in neighbouring countries like Singapore and Malaysia.\u003cbr/\u003eExtracurricular activities especially related to computer literacy considered as a positive move to drive innovation in education. \u003cbr/\u003eMinaldi Loeis, an expert in software engineering says  technology has penetrated in every aspects of global development.\u003cbr/\u003eLoeis says  it is important to include information and communication technology in education as early as possible to enable Indonesians getting the benefit of the huge market opportunity.\u003cbr/\u003eLoeis says  \" The ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is one of the significant factors in the country and global development.
