We would go around to all the campesinos (rural farmers) and we would tell them about what was happening. And how Battista did a coup détat to come into power in 1952 and he was still there and (that) there were lots of people being killed and this and that and we had to get rid of Battista. And so anyhow, he told me all about this and then he wanted to go to Mexico to come on the Granma with Fidel. That was what he wanted to do.\"\u003cbr/\u003e8. And one time I was there when we first moved in and the local policeman came, the night watchman would come around and see and be like 'oh a new one' you know 'We will get some money from her or something' so I said ´Oh, come in. Come in, what would you like. Some coffee?' and I was trembling and my husband was in the back sorting bullets and so after he had gone, Manuel came out and said ´Who was that?' and I said (told him what had happened) ´Oh well (he said), it just sounded like we were playing dominoes', Which it did.\" \u003cbr/\u003e12. I think it is terrible. People say 'You are a communist. You are a Socialist'. I am a humanist. I think that all people should learn to live together from the time they are born. Wide shot dancers rehearsing \u003cbr/\u003eThe life of an american dancer born and raised in Connecticut, is an unlikely stage on which to set the dramatic events of the Cuban revolution.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the story of Lorna Burdsall, once married to a leading revolutionary and considered to be a pioneer in of modern dance in Cuba, is just that.  \u003cbr/\u003eBurdsall was a founding member of the National Modern Dance Company of Cuba in 1959. She still dedicates most of her time to teaching dance, continuing to work with the Asi Somos dance group that she founded in 1981. \u003cbr/\u003eBut her early years in Cuba, recently documented in her published autobiography, give a dramatic and surprising insight on the underground rebel movement that was to become the Cuban revolution.\u003cbr/\u003eIn 1955, Lorna married Cuban national Manuel Piñeiro, the man she met and fell in love with while dancing in New York.\u003cbr/\u003eShe then moved  to Cuba where her husband played a key role in Castro's covert M-26 operation to overthrow the then dictator Fulgencio Battista. \u003cbr/\u003eLorna, a self declared pacifist, had married a man who was later to become Vice Minister of the Interior and Head of Cuban Intelligence - Cuba's counterpart to the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).\u003cbr/\u003eThe young mother soon found herself travelling round the country, spreading anti-Battista propaganda and storing weapons at home while dodging the feared Military Intelligence Service. \u003cbr/\u003eTo this day, her ties with family and friends in the US remain strong.  But Cuba has become her chosen home despite shortages and acute hardship as a result of a US trade embargo. \u003cbr/\u003eHer story has now captured the imagination of Hollywood film studios and a
