We have a wide shot of it here.  And the crew saw that one of the blankets was raised up.  A corner of it was raised up just a little bit.  There's an area on the OMS pod that is tile, it's more, it has more aerodynamic forces on it, a little bit more heating, and then that transitions in a lower heating area to the blankets, and at that transition point, it looks like one corner of one of those thick blankets pulled up a little bit.\"\u003cbr/\u003e3. We talked about it at some length in the mission management team just to make that the whole team understood exactly what the forward plan was, to understand what data needed to be collected by the crew on orbit, how that was going to be analysed, any types of wind tunnel or thermal tests that we need to go do.  So we're pretty early in the process. There's a potential that if we extend the mission, we could do a fourth space walk on this flight.  Things could be all the way from tucking it back into the tiles.  They have pins that you can use.  You could just trim off that area.  All the way to we're flying several different tile repair capabilities like a plate overlay, and we've got the goo that you can squirt in any tile loss areas.  So we have a very wide spectrum of different repair activities.  The key is to  understand what the condition is, and if you have to do anything about it.  And then we would go apply the different EVA (extravehicular activity) techniques and tools to go pick the best one for the crew that would give us the most margin of safety.\"\u003cbr/\u003e6. appear to be an urgent problem a senior NASA official said on Saturday.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe gap, about 4 inches by 6 inches, appears to have been caused by air lifting the corner of the blanket up, John Shannon, chairman of the mission management team, said at a news conference at the Johnson Space Centre in Houston, Texas.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's not a great deal of concern right now, but there's a lot of work to be done,\" Shannon said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe discover came as the crew readied themselves for what NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) called a delicate ballet with the international space station.\u003cbr/\u003eThen the shuttle will enter a week-long embrace on Sunday with the orbital outpost.\u003cbr/\u003eAtlantis' seven astronauts spent much of Saturday on a mandatory inspection of the shuttle's delicate heat tiles, outer edges and blankets for problems similar to the kind that caused the fatal Columbia accident in 2003. \u003cbr/\u003eAs of Saturday afternoon, no glaring problems were reported.\u003cbr/\u003eBut late Friday and early Saturday, the crew spent extra time using a robot arm to look at a gap in a thermal blanket on the left side of the shuttle. \u003cbr/\u003eNASA engineers want to study more photos of the torn blanket, covering maneuvering engines at the tail of the shuttle, particularly images that were taken by cameras attached to the solid rocket boosters that separated from Atlantis more than two minutes into flight and then dropped into the Atlantic Ocean. \u003cbr/\u003eThe boosters are recovered by ships after each launch.\u003cbr/\u003eUsing the images, engineers can build models and perform aerodynamic and thermodynamic tests to determine whether the lifted blanket would cause problems during Atlantis' re-entry into Earth's atmosphere at the end of the mission.\u003cbr/\u003eIt is not a place where NASA is usually concerned about potentially fatal problems. \u003cbr/\u003eBut if engineers decided it needed to be fixed, Atlantis' astronauts have a number of options Shannon said.  \u003cbr/\u003eThey could trim if off, tuck it back into protective tiles or cover it with a plate held in place by adhesive goo during three planned space walks or an extra one added to the schedule.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter the Columbia disaster, a shuttle repair kit was included in all shuttle missions.\u003cbr/\u003eAtlantis' seven-man crew was closing the gap between it and the International Space Station by about 800 miles (1287 kilometres) every 90-minute orbit. \u003cbr/\u003eAtlantis is scheduled to dock with the space station on Sunday at 3:38 p.m. EDT (1138 GMT).\u003cbr/\u003eDuring the 11-day flight, the astronauts will deliver a new segment and a pair of solar panels to the
