Works of art from masters such as Monet, Picasso, Degas, Dali, Renoir and Rodin...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEnglish/Nat\u003cbr/\u003eAn array of major Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and 20th century artworks will be put to auction at Christie's in New York early next week. \u003cbr/\u003eWorks of art from masters such as Monet, Picasso, Degas, Dali, Renoir and Rodin will appear on the auction block at Christie's annual Spring art sale.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe highlights of the sale include a painting by Pablo Picasso worth between 35 and 40 (m) million U-S dollars, a painting of water lilies by Monet estimated at 20-25 (m) million U-S dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eThe sales will also mark the first time that an international fine art auction is broadcast live on the internet. \u003cbr/\u003eLeading the sale of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works on May 8th and 9th will be Claude Monet's 'Nympheas', expected to fetch between 20 and 25 (m) million U-S dollars. \u003cbr/\u003ePainted in 1906, the pristine canvas portrays the celebrated garden created by the artist at his residence at Giverny. \u003cbr/\u003eA museum piece, the work has been held in a private collection for more than 85 years. \u003cbr/\u003eMonet's 'Nympheas' theme began in 1899 and grew to dominate his work entirely. \u003cbr/\u003eThe sale will also include a simpler version of the same theme entitled 'Le bassin aux nypheas' from 1917-19, estimated to be worth between 9 and 12 (m) million U-S dollars. \u003cbr/\u003eFurther down the price range, Christie's sale of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism also features \"L'Homme au balcon, boulevard Haussmann' by Gustave Caillebotte.\u003cbr/\u003ePainted in 1880, it is worth between 6 and 8 (m) million U-S dollars, and at that price, is the most expensive work of art by the artist ever to reach the market. \u003cbr/\u003eThe painting captures the view from the artist's Paris apartment at the corner of the rue Gluck and the boulevard Haussmann. \u003cbr/\u003eAlthough Caillebotte is not a household name in the United States, there has been much interest in the sale because so few have come to market - most are held by the artist's family. \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Well the painting by Caillebot is a man standing by the window, it's one, it's the best painting by the artist ever to come up at auction in America.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Frank Giraud, Vice President of 19-20th Century Art, Christie's\u003cbr/\u003eIn what the auction house describes as the 'lot of the season', Christie's will lead its spring auction of 20th century art, to be held on May 9th and 10th, with Pablo Picasso's 1932 portrait of Marie-Therese Walter painted in the guise of a still life. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Nature morte aux tulips' is one of nine Picassos in the sale, which range in date from 1911 to 1963 and span virtually every period from the master's career.\u003cbr/\u003eThe painting of Picasso's mistress is expected to fetch up to 40 (m) million U-S dollars. \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's a very important painting from 1932.
