Close of cartoon of Moammar Gadhafi \u003cbr/\u003eLess than two months after the uprising against Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's regime began, new media outlets are springing up to voice opposition to the Tripoli government.\u003cbr/\u003eAt least six newspapers, two TV stations and one radio broadcaster are enjoying the benefits of freedom of the press, adding colour to the once monochrome news on the streets of Benghazi.\u003cbr/\u003eState radio, TV and newspaper offices were among buildings first targeted by the angry crowds when the uprising started.\u003cbr/\u003eBurned, looted and abandoned, the buildings stand witness to the hatred felt towards the propaganda machine tightly controlled from Tripoli.\u003cbr/\u003eThe rules for Libyan media were absolute: don't print, broadcast or post anything negative about Gadhafi. \u003cbr/\u003eLibyan journalists who crossed the line risked prison or death.\u003cbr/\u003eJournalist Mohammad El Maadani, the founder of new newspaper 'Al Mustakbal' (The Future), said government officials used to monitor what he wrote to make sure it was positive. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says he'll distribute the first few issues of  'Al Mustakbal' for free, but expects to be able to run an economically viable project some time in the future.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the last two months, at least half a dozen new publications have appeared in the de facto rebel capital of Benghazi. \u003cbr/\u003ePublishing enthusiasm brought capacity problems for the local printing shop. \u003cbr/\u003eOne of the managers, Muftar Bouaza, said they were now printing five newspapers a day. \u003cbr/\u003e\"There is no comparison between, before 17th February and now,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eA radio station and two TV startups add to the new media variety of rebel Libya.\u003cbr/\u003eOperating on equipment salvaged from looting and violence, Libya Al-Hurra TV station is still limited to internet only, but its staff expects a proper programme to be broadcast soon.\u003cbr/\u003eStation spokesman Zuheir El Barasi said the media was an important weapon to use to fight against the regime. \u003cbr/\u003e\"That is why we want to go up with our media now, to get our weapon and to fight,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eEl Barasi claims there is queue of young journalists willing to help build the station and report the news of the uprising in their country.\u003cbr/\u003eTraining sessions are being held to teach them basic crafts and standards of broadcast journalism.\u003cbr/\u003eBut money is tight for the new generation of news media. \u003cbr/\u003eThe staff at the 'Burniq' newspaper paid to print the first edition themselves and a cash donation from an oil company owned by opposition supporters keeps it running.\u003cbr/\u003eThe paper was named Burniq because it is a historical name for Benghazi. They now print 3,000 copies each week.\u003cbr/\u003eYoung Burniq reporter Asthma Al Hawaz said they won't be biased to write only good things about the National Transitional Council.\u003cbr/\u003e\"If it makes any mistakes, of course we will write about it,\" she said.\u003cbr/\u003eBalance would be no bad thing, as currently the media of rebel Libya are a motley lot, full of political tirades, nationalistic poetry, homage to \"martyrs'' killed battling government forces and political cartoons mocking Gadhafi and his family.\u003cbr/\u003eThe journalists say they
