The APAO has launched a program to provide free cataract...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eKung Fu star Jet Li is helping to stop people go blind unnecessarily.\u003cbr/\u003eHe attended an event held by Hong Kong's Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) on Friday (13 JAN 2012).  \u003cbr/\u003eThe APAO has launched a program to provide free cataract surgery for under-privileged senior citizens in need.    \u003cbr/\u003eCataract is a condition of the eye that normally comes with aging, and cataract blindness is one of the most prevalent causes of preventable blindness in Asia.  \u003cbr/\u003eAnd the One Foundation charity, founded by Li, was one of the organizations that donated to the free cataract surgery program.  \u003cbr/\u003eThanks to them, 200 senior citizens were able to receive corrective surgery and regain their sight.\u003cbr/\u003eJet Li said that seeing the how the surgery helped people, made him to want to help even more:\u003cbr/\u003e\"There are tens of thousands of them (cataract blindness patients) out there. Many of them wait for as long as five years for the corrective surgery. So this program is only the beginning. I hope that more people in Hong Kong can get involved.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe event wasn't the only reason Li was in town.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The Expendables 2\" starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Lie starts shooting in Hong Kong over the next few days. \u003cbr/\u003eAnd it's Li's fault they're all there.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I didn't have time to shoot (the film), especially when they're going to shoot in Europe,\" explained Li.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm really grateful for these good friends like (Sylvester) Stallone and Arnold (Schwarzenegger), the studio, the director, and producer. They were understanding.
