Volodymir...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eRenowned Ukrainian graphic artist Volodymir Pinigin may be in his 70s, but the famous illustrator has no plans to retire any time soon.\u003cbr/\u003eHe's busy creating new works and is also inspiring younger generations in unexpected ways. \u003cbr/\u003eVolodymir Pinigin is a world famous graphic artist, and arguably one of the best book illustrators in Ukraine.\u003cbr/\u003eHis artwork has been published in books by Ray Bradbury, Stanislav Lev, Herbert (H.G.) Wells and other sci-fi writers. His works have been displayed from Belgium to the United States in more than 200 exhibitions. \u003cbr/\u003eMany of his paintings can now be found in private collections and museums all around the world.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's a whole series here. Almost all of these works have travelled to the US. Part of them are now in Germany - Cologne, San Francisco and Chicago\", says Pinigin flipping through some of his books.\u003cbr/\u003ePinigin often lights up a cigarette as he sits down to draw.  The artist says the Europeans are the ones who truly value his small graphics.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The Belgians, the Swiss, the French and the Dutch - they very much respect detailed graphics. Some intelligent people want to buy such works, but the price of them nowadays, is you know what (meaning high)\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe artist lives in Lviv, western Ukraine and loves his home nation.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Ukraine is Ukraine, you know. It is our wonderful, as they say in German - the gro�e land - great country.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIt is here that he has created his own fantasy world. One can plunge into his world just by entering his tiny apartment. The walls are covered with whimsical drawings instead of wallpaper, shelves sagging from the weight of antiques and old photos.\u003cbr/\u003eCreating works for one book alone takes him around six months, depending on the volume of it. Music helps Pinigin to power through the long working days. \u003cbr/\u003ePinigin's works are also inspiring younger generations, including his 23 year-old grandson who shares an apartment with him. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I chose architecture and do not regret it. Until now I have not figured out how to bring it (architecture) together with my grandad's style, but there is definitely some of it there. He (my granddad) has a lot of early works. He has paintings from when he was 16-17 years old, he has Lviv themed works. He has illustrations, and even the Lviv's Ploscha Square (Market Square), those are phantasmagoric images. And they are linked to architecture.\"\u003cbr/\u003eVolodymir Pingin was born in 1941 in Saint Petersburg, but moved to Lviv in 1958.
