evicted person of their property but leaves them to repay their mortgage in full.\u003cbr/\u003eProtesters affiliated with the Platform for Mortgage Victims have been camping outside Bankia, mortgage lender to some of them, for 61 days.\u003cbr/\u003eBankia, a major bank that had to be nationalised, was bailed out by the state for 18 billion euros (24 billion US dollars).\u003cbr/\u003eSome ten protesters sleep in their tents everyday. \u003cbr/\u003eOthers join them in the daytime to help spread information about how to campaign to change the mortgage law\u003cbr/\u003ePlatform for Mortgage Victims is an anti-eviction pressure group that has started chapters across the country. \u003cbr/\u003eWorried homeowners, who owe amounts ranging from tens to hundreds of thousands of euros on their mortgages, are desperate for help and advice from the group after receiving court notices that their homes have been auctioned for a fraction of the purchase price and they'll soon be kicked out on to the streets.\u003cbr/\u003ePeruvian father of three Jose Aguado, 38, was facing eviction but with legal help from the protest group he managed to get his bank, troubled lender Bankia, to allow him to pay a social rent fee of 280 euros on his property instead of a higher mortgage fee of 1,300 euros. \u003cbr/\u003eBut the deal is only for five years, after which he will have to start paying the full mortgage fee or risk immediate eviction.\u003cbr/\u003eFellow protester Esteban Capa, 42, is being evicted but is battling to not be left with mortgage repayments.\u003cbr/\u003eSpain has endured a wave of foreclosures that have generated protests and recent suicides by people about to be ousted from their apartments and houses.\u003cbr/\u003eSince issuing an emergency decree which will protect Spanish families with an annual income of less than 14,400 euros (18,978 US dollars) after taxes, the government has been under increasing pressure to come up with reforms to its mortgage system. \u003cbr/\u003eActivists have been lobbying for an insolvency law that would allow those who have defaulted on their mortgages to simply turn in the keys to their homes as they do in countries like the United States, freeing them from mortgage debt.\u003cbr/\u003eFor the first time this month, Spanish voters cited foreclosure evictions as one of their main concerns, according to a recent poll by a government institute. \u003cbr/\u003eExactly how many evictions of people from their homes have happened since the crisis hit Spain and burst its property bubble in 2008 is unclear.\u003cbr/\u003eGovernment statistics do not break down how many evictions are for first residences, second homes or property like small warehouses or apartments - which many Spanish families have traditionally purchased to rent out for extra income. \u003cbr/\u003eNonetheless, judges have issued more than 350,000 court orders for eviction following foreclosures since January 1, 2008, and
