It will provide protection in case of biologic warfare use of anthrax, and that's basically why we're beginning it early.  But it was something that was planned to begin this year anyway, so just slightly accelerating the programme.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Colonel Matteson, chief surgeon, Doha camp\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, unanswered questions remain concerning the possible long term side effects of the vaccine.\u003cbr/\u003eA number of soldiers who served in the Gulf War blame their consequent chronic ill health on the prophylactic injections they received ahead of combat.  \u003cbr/\u003eGulf War Syndrome, a collection of unspecified illnesses ranging from muscle pain, chronic fatigue and skin disorders to depression and heart problems, is blamed by veterans on the cocktail of prophylactic drugs they were exposed given.\u003cbr/\u003eThe medical establishment has yet to agree on the definitive causes of Gulf War Syndrome, but vaccines along with pesticides used during the 1991 conflict are suspected. \u003cbr/\u003eBut Matteson says the anthrax vaccine is harmless and well-established as a medical substance. \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English) \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's a very innocent vaccine that has been used for many years now.
