Chinese sailors talking with US naval officer\u003cbr/\u003eA US Navy warship, the USS Blue Ridge visited Hong Kong on Monday, the first American ship to visit since November, when the USS Kitty Hawk was turned away by Hong Kong authorities.\u003cbr/\u003eCaptain David Lausman said the USS Blue Ridge and its 700 sailors would stay in Hong Kong for a couple of days.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Specifically for the commanding officer of the Blue Ridge and the crew of Blue Ridge, we are very happy to be back,\" Lausman said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Blue Ridge is the flagship of the Commander Seventh Fleet and is stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.\u003cbr/\u003eThe arrival of the ship comes two months after the USS Kitty Hawk and its strike group carrying about 8-thousand sailors hoping to join their families in Hong Kong for a holiday break were refused entry to the territory's deep water port, dealing a blow to improving China-US Relations.\u003cbr/\u003eCaptain Lausman said that incident is being dealt with by the US Navy in a separate process.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The inability of Kitty Hawk and the battle group to come in November was unfortunate. That's being handled at a much higher level.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHong Kong authorities said the ships did not have clearance from Beijing.\u003cbr/\u003eEarlier that month, two minesweepers running low on fuel and buffeted by winds in the South China Sea requested permission to wait out the storm in Hong Kong, but were also turned away.\u003cbr/\u003eNo reasons were given by Beijing, although Chinese officials later suggested the move was a reaction to Washington's decision to grant an award to Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, and to sell weapons to its rival Taiwan.\u003cbr/\u003eThe move drove a wedge between US and Chinese authorities who had seen relations improve over recent years. \u003cbr/\u003ePentagon officials expressed confusion and concern at the decision and called for greater transparency in Beijing's\u003cbr/\u003emilitary decision making.\u003cbr/\u003eHong Kong, which returned to Chinese rule in 1997, has long been a favoured port call for US and other countries
