arts teacher Thiago Firmino, this means keeping in touch with more than 700 friends on instant messenger or loading a video on YouTube of him performing.\u003cbr/\u003eFirmino, who owns a laptop and used to pay for dial-up Internet, said Internet access will bring great benefits for everyone in the community. \u003cbr/\u003eZileide Macedo is hoping she will be able to keep up with the news and pay her bills from her home desktop, as well as doing a little shopping. \u003cbr/\u003e16 routers have been installed in the community, which should provide Internet access to more than 61-thousand square meters (yards). \u003cbr/\u003eRio de Janeiro state's Science and Technology Secretary Alexandre Cardoso, who administers the project, called it the largest example of \"digital integration\" in the world. \u003cbr/\u003eFor the next three months, Cardoso's team will deliver a series of workshops which will help residents use the Internet to pay taxes and bills. \u003cbr/\u003eIt will also set up free emails for those who request it. \u003cbr/\u003eA similar internet project was launched on Copacabana Beach last year, which now allows people to surf free wireless Internet right next to the ocean.\u003cbr/\u003eCardoso said the state government plans on making Rio de Janeiro \"the digital city,\" with the launch of wireless access points in Ipanema and Leblon beach, as well as the
