Wide of round table\u003cbr/\u003eUS envoys made a rare crossing on Wednesday of the border dividing the two Koreas with the remains of six American soldiers from the Korean War, completing a mission where they pushed for action on North Korea's nuclear disarmament.\u003cbr/\u003eNew Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and Anthony Principi, former U.S. veterans affairs secretary, were greeted at the frontier between North and South by US Ambassador to South Korea Alexander Vershbow and US military officials.\u003cbr/\u003eRichardson spent four days in North Korea, also joined by the top White House adviser on Korea, Victor Cha.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Hopefully, we've done our bit to relieve the tension between our two countries,\" Richardson said after crossing the border, referring to the US and North Korea.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile in the North, the delegation met with officials to press Pyongyang to meet a Saturday deadline to shut down its sole operating nuclear reactor under a February agreement with the US and other regional powers. \u003cbr/\u003eIt's unclear if the deadline will be met due to a separate dispute over frozen North Korean funds that Pyongyang has insisted be resolved before it moves to disarm.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever later on Wednesday Richardson said that North Korea had offered to invite UN nuclear inspectors to return to the country within a day of receiving the frozen funds that have been a primary obstacle in disarmament talks.\u003cbr/\u003eRichardson said the North Koreans had asked for a month to complete the reactor shutdown, but that the US delegation had said that was too long.\u003cbr/\u003eThe comments were the clearest North Korean reaction yet to an announcement that authorities have released North Korea's money held in Banco Delta Asia - a Macau bank blacklisted by Washington - and raised hope for the implementation of a landmark February 13th agreement in which Pyongyang promised to shut its main nuclear reactor by Saturday.\u003cbr/\u003eAuthorities in the Chinese territory of Macau said Wednesday that North Korea can withdraw the money.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Wednesday, the Americans drove two hours from the North Korean capital Pyongyang along virtually traffic less roads, with the remains of the soldiers transported separately in small, black cases. \u003cbr/\u003eThey then walked across the North-South frontier at the truce village of Panmunjom, the border between the two Koreas has divided the peninsula since a 1953 cease-fire ended the Korean War.\u003cbr/\u003ePrincipi said the mission to deliver the remains was one of the most emotional moments of his life.\u003cbr/\u003e\"To participate in such a noble mission to bring home the remains of men who 50 years ago were in harm's way, and now they're home, it was really quite moving,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eMore than 33,000 U.S. troops died in the Korean War, which began in June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea. \u003cbr/\u003eAn estimated 2 million Korean civilians were killed in the war. More than 1.5 million Chinese and North Korean soldiers are thought to have been killed, wounded or captured, as well as 270,000 from South Korea.  \u003cbr/\u003eSome 8,100 U.S. servicemen still are listed as missing.\u003cbr/\u003eIn 2005, the US government halted a separate cooperative program that permitted US military teams to excavate remains from North Korean battlefields, saying the North had created an unsafe environment. \u003cbr/\u003eThe program had recovered remains believed to be from 220 soldiers since 1996.\u003cbr/\u003eLater on Wednesday, Richardson met with South Korean
