bin Laden in Afghanistan went on trial on Monday accused of overall responsibility for last year's Bali bombings.\u003cbr/\u003ePolice accuse Ali Ghufron of being the operations chief of Jemaah Islamiyah, the al-Qaida linked regional terror group blamed for the October 12 nightclub blasts that killed more than two hundred people.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 43-year-old Islamic preacher, known by his alias 'Mukhlas', is the third key suspect to stand trial over the bloodiest terror attack since the  September 11th strikes against the United States.\u003cbr/\u003eMukhlas raised his fist and shouted 'God is Great' as he took the stand.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's expected, his trial will reveal  the inner workings of Jemaah Islamiyah - a group accused of plotting a\u003cbr/\u003eseries of  terrorist attacks in Southeast Asia. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Prosecution told the court that Mukhlas had \"general responsibility\" for the Bali attack -  and played a key role in channeling the funds for it.\u003cbr/\u003eThe prosecutor said that Mukhlas wanted to avenge what he saw as the United States «indiscriminate slaughter and\u003cbr/\u003eoppression of Muslims» and chose Bali  because of the large number of foreign tourists there.\u003cbr/\u003e'Mukhlas' is the eldest of three brothers accused of playing a key role in the bombings.\u003cbr/\u003eThe trial of his younger brother, Amrozi , also continued on Monday. \u003cbr/\u003eHe's accused of purchasing the bomb-making material and mini-van used in the attacks.\u003cbr/\u003eIf found guilty, both brothers could face the death penalty
