More recently rap pioneer Grand Master Jay of Run DMD was gunned down in New York.\u003cbr/\u003eThere had always been guns in the ghetto said Jean, speaking at the Midem music convention in Cannes, and previous 'just say no' messages had failed to make an impact.\u003cbr/\u003eOnly the sight of death and the misery that it causes would registered in the hearts and minds of people brought to believe violence was a norm.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, Jean was also bold enough to oppose the idea of an American-led invasion of Iraq.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm not for any form of war because we've done it a few times and we see that is definitely not the way,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eJean's anti-war sentiments have been echoed in the UK by Damon Albarn of Blur and the Gorillaz.\u003cbr/\u003eHe voiced his concerns over an attack on Iraq during a protest outside the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday night.\u003cbr/\u003eThe star, one of music's most high-profile anti-war protesters, said the country should be consulted about any possible military action against Saddam Hussein.\u003cbr/\u003eAlbarn, who has spoken out against war since the 2001 bombing of Afghanistan, is currently working
