So now we are working on new technologies that will enable us to be able to store that energy. The main hopes are in the use of hydrogen. With hydrogen we will be able to store the energy generated by the wind or the sun so we can use it when the wind don't blow or when it's cloudy.\"\u003cbr/\u003e35. Wind farm\u003cbr/\u003eIn less than a decade, the Spanish northern region of Navarra hopes to become the world's first large area to consume all-clean and renewable energy.\u003cbr/\u003eBut some people and organisations are questioning whether that will be possible.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen the Spanish state government of Navarra started its Plan of Renewable Energy in 2005, almost all of the region's energy supply came from other Spanish regions or neighbouring France.\u003cbr/\u003eNow almost all of its energy needs are generated within its borders, and sixty percent of it comes from renewable sources.\u003cbr/\u003eImporting technology from pioneering countries such as Denmark, Navarra started an ambitious project that, according to local authorities will end up in all of their energy needs met from the solar energy, wind energy, hydro-electric power and bio-mass energy. \u003cbr/\u003eSecretary of Industry and Energy of Navarra Javier Belarra says they hope within ten years Navarra will be energy self-sufficient.\u003cbr/\u003eAcciona Energia is a Navarra-based company that builds its own wind farms, solar panels and biomass turbines in factories located in strategic points of Navarra and the rest of Spain.\u003cbr/\u003eIt has quickly become multi-national, not only exporting technology to other countries but also expanding its activities to other sectors such as transport and construction.\u003cbr/\u003eHead of Acciona's biomass plant Rodolfo Alonso says wind and solar power do have their drawbacks unlike biomass fuel.\u003cbr/\u003eNavarra's Plan de la Energia is already showing its first positive statistics including having Spain's largest solar farm and Southern Europe's biggest biomass fuel plant.\u003cbr/\u003eAcciona's also runs a solar farm.  The farm's spokesperson Leticia Machin says education is very important in reducing energy consumption.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile solar energy is playing its part, wind generated energy is perhaps the star of the region's present scheme. \u003cbr/\u003eNavarra currently has thirty three 'eolic parks' or wind farms with over one thousand generators that generate 930 megawatts of energy a year.\u003cbr/\u003eHead of Acciona's wind generator plant Santiago Garces says the technology has been designed and built to last.\u003cbr/\u003eBut as the wind farms expand, some environmental associations like Pamplona-based Gurelur say the turbines and the rotor blades are creating environmental problems in themselves.\u003cbr/\u003eGurelur spokesman Antonio Munilla argues that thousands of birds are getting killed in the turbines every year.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Greenpeace spokesperson Ana Martinez says risk-free energy is not always possible.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite the controversy the Navarra is still working towards a renewable energy future.\u003cbr/\u003eThe secretary of Industry and Energy of Navarra Javier Belarra says what it important now is to refine technologies so that
