We got 'The Green Hornet', 'Just Go With It' and, of course, the Justin Bieber movie.\"\u003cbr/\u003eTime will tell if the teen sensation merits a place alongside 'Gone With the Wind', but for Bieliebers and archivists alike it's Never Say Never. \u003cbr/\u003eJust about everything finds a place in the archive.\u003cbr/\u003eGregory Lukow is in charge of the conservation project, part of the US Library of Congress archive that tries to be all-inclusive.\u003cbr/\u003e \"We acquire all of the nation's audio visual productions. The heritage of film, television, video, DVD, sound recordings, music, spoken word, video games.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Lukow there is no better way to capture the history of the United States.\u003cbr/\u003e \"We feel certainly that the audio-visual record is in some ways the best record of the historical memory of the 20th century moving into the 21st century,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eAmerica's film vault is no secret, but it's not the kind of place that's open to the public.\u003cbr/\u003eIt used to be a high-security vault for the Federal Reserve, storing money during the Cold War in case of a nuclear attack.\u003cbr/\u003eNow instead of stacks of cash - it has stacks of film - and a new enemy.\u003cbr/\u003eThat enemy is time.\u003cbr/\u003eOld film stock simply rots away. It takes a lot of tender loving care to bring a print from the early days of cinema back to life.\u003cbr/\u003eFor an original negative dating from 1919, getting it ready to make a new print for a festival screening is a slow business for conservator Barbara Whitehead.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm going to have to take this all apart and re-do it so it's nice and clean and not too thick. Because if we run it through the printer and it's too thick and it jumps off the sprocket teeth, it can tear the film.\"\u003cbr/\u003ePreserving movies this old is a labour of love - but it has to be done before it's too late says Whitehead.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's 92 years old. It just gets old and brittle and it doesn't hold anymore.\"\u003cbr/\u003eFilm like this are not only very fragile, they can be highly flammable. Older reels of volatile nitrate film are kept in secure vaults, where the temperature is kept cool.\u003cbr/\u003eWith video archive the biggest challenge is a bewildering array of redundant recording formats.\u003cbr/\u003eThe archive needs to keep them all.  There are tape decks, reel-to-reel recorders, turntables, machines of all ages and sizes, ready for playback.\u003cbr/\u003eOnly a government enterprise has the size and scale to keep on top of it all says Gregory Lukow.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Kind of a last place where we think this kind of work can continue to be done for the nation, as a lot of these media formats become obsolete,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eIf you have a vast collection of movies, why not show some?\u003cbr/\u003eSo they do, three nights a week in a plush Art Deco style theatre.\u003cbr/\u003eBilly Wilder's lightweight 1954 rom-com 'Sabrina' may not have the laugh-out-loud appeal of classics like 'Some Like it Hot', but fans of an unlikely combination of Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn won't be
