weapons.\u003cbr/\u003eThe United States has accused Tehran of secretly trying to develop nuclear weapons, but Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful and geared only toward producing electricity.\u003cbr/\u003eShe said Iranians believe there was a possibility of an American-led war against them, but that she was sure that the Iranian people would unite against any invasion force. \u003cbr/\u003eEbadi, who won the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize, is among the most prominent speakers at the six-day forum, billed as the world's largest gathering of \"anti-globalisation\" activists.\u003cbr/\u003eEbadi also commented on the upcoming elections in her native country, saying that she hoped all Iranians would be able to vote to elect their representatives. \u003cbr/\u003eThe elections have been dogged by controversy after Iran's hard-line Guardian Council disqualified hundreds of liberal candidates, including 80 sitting lawmakers.\u003cbr/\u003eEbadi, who was awarded the Nobel for her work on the rights of women and children, has been criticised at home by Muslim\u003cbr/\u003efundamentalists. \u003cbr/\u003eHer Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, at which she appeared without the traditional Muslim headscarf, was not televised in Iran.\u003cbr/\u003eEbadi was the first woman judge in Iran, but was forced to resign after the country's 1979 Islamic revolution and now works at Tehran University.\u003cbr/\u003eShe has been imprisoned several times, and has been involved in several controversial cases, including one related to fatal attacks
