These judges are at the...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eThe search is on to find the construction worker with the best singing voice in the United Arab Emirates.\u003cbr/\u003eMen from a hundred different labour camps around the UAE are competing to reach the finals in October. \u003cbr/\u003eThese judges are at the Larson and Toubro labour camp in the heart of Dubai's industrial area looking for the next singing sensation.\u003cbr/\u003eStarted in 2009, the annual Camp Ka Champ competition gives labourers a chance to show off their singing skills. \u003cbr/\u003eThe judges go from camp to camp watching hundreds of hopefuls take to the stage, strut their stuff and give their best song. \u003cbr/\u003eThe winner gets a prize of 7,500 dirhams (2,040 US dollars) and everyone who takes part gets a bottle of cooking oil from one of the sponsors, Sunny Cooking Oil. \u003cbr/\u003eAlso sponsoring the event are Western Union, G Pass electronics, Radio4 (Dubai), Zee TV, and mobile recharge company Bing. \u003cbr/\u003eOne of the organisers, Rupa Vinod, says the idea for the competition came about after they saw labourers getting together to enjoy karaoke style sessions after work. \u003cbr/\u003e\"What inspired us was the fact that, when we went to camps earlier, in 2006, we noticed that there were a lot of shows happening which were more to entertain the crowd and they were not involved in the programme. They would watch a show they would go back to their rooms and that's it. And we realised why not involve these people because we found that a few of them talented, they would dance to songs that were being sung there. And we said why don't we start designing a programme where we can involve them to be part of this whole activity and showcase the talent that they have,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003eThirty people have signed up to audition at this camp, but only two people will advance from each site. \u003cbr/\u003eThe auditions are held in 100 camps across all of the UAE and organisers say they are anticipating more than 3,000 applicants.\u003cbr/\u003eOnly 24 of those singers will advance to the finals in October. \u003cbr/\u003e\"There are people coming from all over the world who are working here, building this city, building this country, and they look forward to this particular programme to be part of, because it brings so much happiness into their lives at the end of the day after a hard day's work,\" says Vinod. \u003cbr/\u003eQaisar Akbar, from Pakistan, has been living in Dubai for four years and has taken part in the competition for the last three years.  \u003cbr/\u003eThis time, he's managed to get through the first round. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Everybody was singing, so I thought if everybody is singing let me take a chance.
