Various of mosquitoes genetically modified in the laboratorySTORYLINEAn outbreak of dengue fever has struck Brazil's Sao Paulo state, with more than 460-thousand cases reported across the country so far in 2015.The disease is spread by mosquitoes and the epidemic is blamed on wet weather.Since there's no vaccination available against the disease, authorities are telling people to keep away from water and to sleep under mosquito nets.According to the country's Health Ministry, more than 130 people have died since the beginning of this year. In Sao Paolo state, several health units, hospitals and tents have been set up to attend to the patients. Even the country's football teams have been on alert.Three players were diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease this week, including Corinthians striker Paolo Guerrero.The country's officials have called in the army to educate the public on fighting the deadly outbreak.Margareth Capurro, a professor in the parasitology department at Sao Paulo University. expressed hope that research by a British biotech company, in raising genetically modified mosquitoes that can mate with wild female mosquitoes, might help combat the
