STORYLINE:After just four months of development, a mobile application being designed by a group of young college graduates is starting to impress. They're all in the early and mid 20s and are trying to turn their concept into reality. Sherif Fawzy, founder of the Hasala mobile application, says they want to make clear the impact of people's charitable donations. \"Due to us spending time volunteering for NGOs, hospitals and charity organisations, we found a common issue that the organisations face regarding donations. People don't go back to donating to the charity organisations because they don't see the impact of their donations on people in need. Basically people can't relate their donations to the people they try to help and this leads to fewer donations.\" Fawzy first came up with the idea for a university project. The response was so positive, he was encouraged to apply for the Mobile App Launchpad Program (MAL) run by Google and the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). According to the United Nations Development Programme, 26.3 percent of Egypt's population is living in poverty. One response to this is to encourage people to donate to charities and volunteer.In Egypt, this is done mainly through television and online advertisements.These often solicit donations to fund a host of endeavours, such as the building of hospitals, the provision of food and clean water to impoverished people, and the freeing of indebted mothers from jail. The Hasala application aims to present users with individual cases of people in need, making the positive effects of donations more apparent. Hasala won first place in the MAL competition, earning 20,000 USD to be put towards further development of the application.The app is being built in the Arabic language, it's in Beta stage, but it's not yet ready for launch. \"What we have right now as capital is not money but it's human resources.
