This lets us see and understand objects. \u003cbr/\u003e              People who have the condition see only bright light and blurry shapes and eventually lose all sight.\u003cbr/\u003e              The treatment, named Luxterna is made by Philadelphia-based Sparks Therapeutics.  \u003cbr/\u003e              The gene therapy works by puncturing a very fine needle into the white part of the eye. \u003cbr/\u003e              Then a modified virus containing a healthy copy of the gene is injected into the retina.  \u003cbr/\u003e              This allows the cell to make the missing protein.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Animation \u003cbr/\u003e              1.
