why I was shutting myself away in a room and practising my own dance steps; why it was the kind of constant pursuit for perfection that dancers have.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              It seems fitting that McOnie makes his West End directorial debut with the show, \u003cbr/\u003e              \"I get very emotional about it - the fact that this film is the very thing that made me have the faith in kind of fighting for that dream and having my own voice,\" says McOnie, whose choreography for \"In The Heights\" won him an Olivier Award in 2016.\u003cbr/\u003e              Luhrmann sees himself as a 'godfather' to the production, and his role is to provoke, ask questions and make observations.  He also considers Drew McOnie as a natural successor, according to costume designer Catherine Martin.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"He (Baz Lurhmann) at the moment is kind of trying to forge new work, but he's absolutely thrilled to be passing on the mantle to someone who grew up with 'Strictly Ballroom,' who is another Scott (lead character Scott Hastings,) really.  So it's kind of been handed from Scott to Scott, as I like to say...  You know, if things always stay in the same hands, they have no chance to grow beyond their, you know, the boundaries of how they were originally created,\" says Martin, who has won four Oscars for her costume and production design, and art direction.\u003cbr/\u003e              The show features classic tracks including \"Love Is In The Air,\" Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps\" and \"Time After Time.\"  They're performed by Will Young, who stars in the newly-created role of narrator, Wally Strand.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I'm bit like this sort of kind of firefly that just zips through the whole story, but I'm always with the audience, as in I've always, I am always talking to the audience, I'm always kind of guiding them as to what's coming up next.  But they're always cheeky - narrators are always cheeky.  MCs are always cheeky and they're always slightly anarchic and slightly unhinged, I think.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Strictly Ballroom\" opens in preview at the Piccadilly Theatre, London, on 29 March, and press night takes place on 24 April 2018.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              London, 14 February 2018\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
