When the early tunnels were being dug, they were dry and safe, now however they need to be pumped constantly to prevent flooding. What did the engineers miss and what does this tell us about London’s geography? Professor Roberts discusses these finding and the future of groundwater in Britain. Professor Carolyn Roberts is the first Frank Jackson Professor of the Environment at Gresham College. She is also a Senior Scientist at the UK Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), which links business and universities in order to promote research and innovation in environmental \u003ca href='http://www.gresham.ac.uk/professors-and-speakers/professor-carolyn-roberts' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'\u003etechnologies.\u003c/a\u003e Now in her second year as the Frank Jackson Professor of Environment at Gresham College, Professor Carolyn Roberts turns to the waters of Great Britain. Professor Roberts will also weave together a career of scientific research and professional experience to examine the technology and thinking that might prove vital in the new millennium.
