There are now many more LGBT+ people facing detention, torture and worse - at least three people have been killed by Chechen government officials in the latest round of attacks. In December 2018 - 2 people killed +40 people detained. Prior to December, the Kremlin and Chechen government have both repeatedly denied allegations that gay men are being detained and tortured in the region, but Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov has never kept it a secret that he is staunchly anti-LGBTQ.
