Completely free. Download yours today The straight sinus, or tentorial sinus, is one of the dural venous sinuses which receive venous blood from the brain and the meninges. It is unpaired and just like the other dural venous sinuses the straight sinus is valveless. The straight sinus lies within the dura mater along the superior surface of the tentorium cerebelli where the perpendicular falx cerebri forms a junction with the midline of the tentorium cerebelli. It receives venous blood mainly from the great cerebral vein also known as the vein of Galen as well as the from the inferior sagittal sinus and drains into the confluence of sinuses.
