It turns out that not only is it dangerous to text and talk on a handheld mobile phone, it's equally dangerous to chat with...\n We've all been told that it's dangerous to drive whilst on the phone, but what's the evidence to back this up? It turns out that not only is it dangerous to text and talk on a handheld mobile phone, it's equally dangerous to chat with someone on hands-free. If you want other voices in the car when you're on a long drive, you're best off turning on the radio as passive listening is much safer than engaging in an active conversation whilst at the wheel. In brief, psychological research on our cognitive abilities to multitask provides evidence in support of driving laws prohibiting driving on the phone. Interestingly the research actually pushes the laws to go further than they already do by also banning hands-free calls on the road.\n
