Method of Joints and Method of Sections:
Every joint and every section of the truss is in static equilibrium, so we can find internal forces by making appropriate cuts. Node that the internal force is parallel to the member only if pins are frictionless and members are massless (standard assumptions for simple trusses)

Centroid:
This is the same as the Center of Mass for an homogeneous object with constant thickness.

Second Moment of Area:
For a rectangle with an axis at the centroid with base, b and height, h. I_x = 1/12 b h^3

Distributed Load:
This is a force per unit length. The force per unit length isn't always constant and can sometimes be a function of x.

SFD and BMD:
Once you have generalized equations for V and M at any point x along the bar, V can be plotted against x (Shear force diagram) and M can be plotted against x (bending moment diagram)\n
