These strategies will increase your Speaking score:

1. Organize answers clearly

If you haven’t already watched it, please watch my video, on this channel, about how to organize your Speaking Part 3 answers.

Opinion → Specific details/examples → One sentence conclusion

Keep your answer tightly organized, or else you start to wander off topic, repeat yourself, and ramble on for too long. All of these things will lower your Speaking score.

2. Provide interesting ideas

If you listen to our podcast, you have heard Lindsay and me talk about the “culture of thinking.”

Basically, if you want to give interesting, strong and high-scoring ideas on IELTS Speaking and Writing, you need to start developing your ideas now.

Read the newspaper and watch movies. It’s fun, and it’s IELTS preparation!

3. Use impressive vocabulary

Firstly, this also encompasses the linking words you use. Use the same high-level linking as in Writing Task 2.

Secondly, you will acquire interesting, native-speaker vocabulary when you follow rule number 2- read the newspaper and watch movies!\n
