By the time she was twelve she married a 19-year-old who said she was very mature for her age, and she had two children by the time she was 16 (gag). Her 2nd marriage was annulled for political reasons, her 3rd marriage brought her to Clisson. Her third husband fought nobly alongside the French king but was captured and ransomed back for a reasonable price. Too reasonable. The French king suspected a double-crosser and killed him. Jeanne swore revenge, sold her entire estate, and took to the high seas, leading the dreaded Black Fleet from her flagship My Revenge. She attacked French merchant ships, killing every sailor on board but for one to send her message to the king. Call it a badass reversal of the women in refrigerators trope, French sailors were mortified, the king was mildly troubled, and the English king was quite delighted. Jeanne married a 4th time to one of the English king’s deputies, but her 4th husband was arrested. Jeanne watched the trial with great interest, and this time the king made the sensible decision to let the man go\n
