Inspired by his grandmother, a Jewish dentist in Poland who was saved during the Holocaust by her grateful patients, Muszynski learned early on the transformative power of compassion. After a severe reaction to medication in 1992 left him debilitated with chronic fatigue syndrome, he used daily visualization and self-kindness to heal. That experience led Muszynski and his wife, a clinical psychologist, to create a classroom program teaching students how to overcome negativity through kindness and positive thinking. Over 31 years, their curriculum has reached 2.6 million students in 9,000 schools across all 50 states, producing dramatic results—including sharp reductions in violence and suspensions in some of the nation’s toughest schools. Today, Kindland is expanding its mission with “The United States of Kindness”, an initiative encouraging Americans—led by teachers and families—to complete 250 acts of kindness. Misinski believes that by embracing kindness as a shared core value, Americans can heal divisions and strengthen communities nationwide.\n
