The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) identifies relationship skills as one of the five core competencies of social and emotional learning. Relationship skills include a number of different soft skills including but not limited to the following:

• Communication
• Social Engagement
• Relationship-building
• Teamwork

The 21st century has brought many changes and helping middle schoolers develop the relationship skills they need to be successful at home, in school, and in their communities is essential.
