This Abraham Lincoln and Grace Bedell-Letter writing lesson plan also includes:
After listening to the book, Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers, second graders read the famous letter sent by a young girl to President Lincoln encouraging him to grow a beard, as well as Lincoln's response back to her. The letters are accessed on the Library of Congress website. Then, learners are coached on how to properly write a friendly letter, and they compose one to Grace Bedell, the girl who wrote to President Lincoln. A beautiful lesson on history, and letter writing, for the little ones.
