Activity Plan 5-6: Rhyming Every Day!

Young scholars chant a familiar nursing rhyme with their classmates, filling in the blanks as the teacher pauses, in order to begin identifying rhyming words. In this rhyming word lesson, students decide whether or not pairs of words rhyme. Next, young scholars experiment with how they can make words rhyme, starting with simple words such at, cat, bat, etc. Together, the class brainstorms a list of words that rhyme, which is recorded on chart paper.
