Put addition into a context children can relate to: cookies! Scholars examine 10 five-frames, each filled with a certain number of cookies. There are two types suggested here, but you could change them based on your class' favorite cookies. Each set belongs to one friend (who is named), and learners write an addition number sentence to demonstrate how many of each type of cookie they have. Note that two frames only have one type; this may be confusing as learners must use zero.
