Eleventh graders study how the immigrants of the late 19th and early 20th centuries became assimilated and Americanized. They investigate why immigrants of this era were willing to forgo their cultural heritage to become Americans. They decide whether contemporary immigrants hold the American ideal in the same esteem. They design a flyer, circa 1910, that advertises a class for immigrants to learn how to integrate into the American culture.
