High schoolers investigate area and perimeter of various shapes. For this area and perimeter of various shapes lesson, students record how area of shapes change when a dimension is doubled, halved, quartered, etc. High schoolers make scatter plots of radii v. circumference and radii v. area. Students discuss why the graphs have a linear or quadratic shape. High schoolers make similar graphs for various shapes such as squares and triangles.
