Assessment Preparation: Word Origins—Etymology

In this etymology worksheet, students use a dictionary to look up 13 vocabulary words. For each word, they write the base word and its etymology, including its origin and the approximate time period in which the word was introduced into the English language. Then they write the correct definition for each word on the line provided, followed by a sentence which reflects the meaning in context.

I love Lesson Planet because it connects me to great websites that have a wealth of information for myself and students. For example, I recently found two great history websites that have a huge amount of pictures--a great place for my foreign language students who need visual aids to comprehend American history. I love Lesson Planet because the lessons are often easy to adapt for a variety of learners.
