Bring on the World: Thinking about Competition
Have your learners role-play a debate about this statement: "Competition should be banned." Three class members pose as supporters of the ban and three as opponents. They receive role cards that detail the reasons for their position. Another plays the discussion facilitator. The rest of the class states their authentic positions on notecards, and after the mock debate, they vote on the proposition. They also debrief in writing about whether or not their personal opinions changed and why.
