Build-A-Membrane

This Build-A-Membrane activity & project also includes:

Here's a great activity to bring excitement to protein-studded cell membranes. Pass out the instructions and templates to individuals or small groups. They cut and fold their phospholipid bilayer, channel protein, receptor protein, transporter protein, tethered protein, and anchored protein, assembling their part of one large membrane made up of each student's part. They match the proteins up so that channel proteins are aligned, and voila! Discussion points are also provided here.
