Character Development: Inference

Fifth graders construct a set of interview questions for a character from a previously read text. They work in groups to write questions that are not addressed in the text but that can be answered by inference. Students consider how writing and answering questions about characters can deepen their interpretation of the text.

As a 'rookie' (first-year) teacher, time is really in short supply! Lesson Planet has given me lots of help making my lessons more engaging for all my students without spending time 'reinventing the wheel!'
