Chenxi and the Foreigner

Students comprehend cultural differences and political issues in China as they read Chenxi and the Foreigner, by Sally Rippen. Students discuss political repression, freedom, and relationships through a variety of activities such as using web maps, miming a scene, and debating. Students then research the Tiananmen Square Protest of 1989 and present their findings through a multimedia presentation, timeline, poem, or newspaper report.
