Choosing a National Capital

High schoolers explore the decision to make Washington DC the national capital. They discuss the points of compromise between Jefferson and Hamilton and explain the importance of the Potomac River to the capital. Students role play being a member of Congress and individually, they write a letter to their constituents explaining the reasons they voted for or against Washington DC being the nation's capital.
