Chuukese Dinner (Middle School)

Students read journal entries of those dining with a Chuukese family. Using that information, they discuss which foods sound appealing and compare and contrast Micronesian and American fruits and vegetables. In groups, they prepare a Micronesian dish and substitute American goods where needed. They also discuss the difference in dinner customs.
